Bob Bigelow

Shane Murphy, Ph.D.

Dr. Murphy is Professor in Psychology at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, Connecticut, where he teaches sport, health, media and exercise psychology.  Dr. Murphy was Head of Sport Psychology for the U.S. Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs from 1987 to 1994. He was sport psychologist for the USA Olympic Teams in Seoul in 1988 and in Albertville in 1992.  Dr. Murphy has written several books on Sports Psychology, including one that looks into aspects of parent and player psychology that can contribute to some of the negative behaviors in youth sports, called The Cheers and the Tears: A Healthy Alternative to the Dark Side of Youth Sports Today.
